The cheapest off-road vehicle — ideal for solo travelers and couples.

The Suzuki Jimny is the perfect rental car for solo travelers, couples, and friends looking to explore Namibia on a small budget and with light luggage.
The Suzuki Jimny is one of the most affordable rental car options for Namibia. Compact, agile, and equipped with 4x4 capability for light off-road driving — it's the perfect choice for solo travelers, couples, and friends staying in lodges, guesthouses, or self-catering accommodations and traveling with light luggage.
With switchable four-wheel drive, it handles Namibia's gravel roads with ease and is more than capable for the classic Namibia road trip through Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, and Etosha. It's also significantly more economical in terms of rental and fuel costs compared to larger 4x4 vehicles.
With rates starting from €66/day, you'll have more budget left for what really matters — an extra night at the lodge, an additional activity, or simply a few more days in Namibia.

Camping equipment and a rooftop tent aren't available with this vehicle. The added weight on top would reduce the Jimny's grip and stability on the road. On top of that, the roof load capacity is only around 40 kg, which severely limits what can realistically be mounted on the roof. The trunk is also simply too small — with suitcases and full camping gear (camping table, chair, kitchen equipment, etc.), the car fills up fast. That said, some rental companies do offer a ground tent as an add-on for the Jimny. Namibia offers great alternatives for campers, but the Suzuki Jimny generally isn't built to carry a full camping setup.
Our recommendation: If you're planning to camp as a couple, you'll be better off with a larger rental vehicle and full camping equipment. Here's a link to our rental cars with rooftop tents.
For longer stretches, or just to be on the safe side, some providers let you add an extra jerry can. You can see which providers offer this on the vehicle page under "Optional Extras."

The Jimny is clearly designed for one or two people. While the 3-door version does have two rear seats, legroom is limited and there's barely any storage space for extra luggage — making it unsuitable for three or four adults on longer trips.
We don't recommend the Jimny for families traveling with children. The interior is very compact, making it difficult to securely fit a child seat, and there's no room left for extra items like strollers or toys.
If you're traveling as a group of three or four, or with children, you'll be better off with a larger rental vehicle.

The Suzuki Jimny has a 40-liter tank and consumes an average of around 6.5 liters per 100 km — a low fuel consumption for this vehicle class. This gives you a range of up to 600 km per tank. Slightly more on paved roads, slightly less on gravel or mountainous terrain; on paved roads, speeds of around 90 to 100 km/h are typically realistic.

In Namibia, the distance between gas stations can be considerable — especially in the south or in the north, off the main routes. On long stretches, the small tank size can become an issue, so good planning is essential. We recommend mapping out your route and fuel stops in advance, and adding a jerry can for longer legs of the trip.

In addition, it comes with a 1.5-liter petrol engine, making the Jimny particularly well-suited for gravel roads. It's designed to comfortably fit two people.
Flat tyres are no rarity on Namibia's gravel roads. That's why every Jimny comes with not just one, but two spare tyres, along with the necessary tools to change them. Good tyres are also essential for safety on gravel.
You'll find details on insurance and the exact vehicle specifications on the respective vehicle page.
