About our company
Arid is a new company and still in its infancy. We started operating in January 2024 – which is maybe why you have not hear about us yet 🙂
Our goal is to make travelling more accessible, stress free, and fun!
We do so by providing a booking platform and personal service for specialized 4×4 rental vehicles.
We’re committed to providing our customers with more choice from trusted car rental companies and an easy and convenient booking experience.

Who we are
Arid was founded by Tim Wucher with a vision to make travelling easy and fun.
Tim was born in Germany but is the fourth generation to live in Namibia. He has a degree in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering and has worked internationally in this field for several years. In 2023 he decided to turn his attention and apply his experience to something “closer to home”.
He is passionate about nature, mountain biking and camping outdoors and is happy to provide personal support and recommendations for your adventure!

We rely on information from various sources including online reviews, direct customer feedback and experiences, the terms and conditions and insurance options, to ensure the quality of the car hire companies is of the best standard.
On each company page, you will find a summary of reviews and ratings from Google, Trustpilot and TripAdvisor. You will also see a summary of the payment terms, and the cancellation policy, as well as whether the company is a member of CARAN (Car Rental Association of Namibia) and the Namibia Tourism Board.
Our goal is to make the booking process as easy and transparent as possible, allowing you to compare different offers and make an informed decision when booking your rental vehicle.

While we are still a young company, we are continuously growing the number of car hire companies and rental vehicle options. You can easily filter and compare different offers on our page and requests to book your preferred option.
In case the requested vehicle is not available, we will reach out to other companies to find a similar vehicle with the aim to provide you with the best offer. This way you may come across new companies or vehicles with better options or pricing that you did not know or would not have found using an online search.
Easier payments
Most car rental companies offer the option to pay via forex bank transfer or using a payment link from a local bank. Both options require currency conversions and include payment or currency conversion fees which have to be paid by the customer.
When booking on Arid you can pay in your local currency and do not pay any banking fees.
Some car hire companies require a payment to confirm your booking or an advance payment before the rental start date. In this case we provide you with a secure payment link from our payment processor Stripe. The remainder of the fee, as well as any insurance fees or additional equipment can be paid on-site when collecting your vehicle.
No booking fees
As a customer you do not pay any fees for requesting an offer or when booking your vehicle.
Arid acts as an agent and thus receives special rates from the car rental companies. Our revenue is earned through a commission which only becomes due for completed bookings.
This way we can always offer you the best possible rates without charging additional fees.

How old is Arid?
Arid is a new company. We started operating in January 2024 and look forward to growing both our vehicle offering and our global customer base.
How does Arid generate revenue?
Arid makes money when we find you your rental vehicle and make a booking. We agree on a commission with the rental vehicles companies. There are not fees to use our platform and we do not charge the customer any booking fees.
Does Arid have its own rental cars?
No. Arid does not have its own fleet of rental cars. We work with carefully selected partners and privately owned companies specializing in custom 4×4 rental vehicles.
What advantages do I have when booking on Arid?
When booking on Arid, you save time and money. Organizing your trip becomes easier and stress free. We check availability, compare available vehicles from multiple companies and provide you with personal and unbiased recommendations on the best offers.
Can I get a refund when booking on Arid?
Yes. When booking on Arid you can get a refund if you decide to cancel your booking. The cancellation policy of the car rental company will apply.
Does it cost more or less to book on Arid?
It costs less. We do not charge the customer any booking fee. You pay in your local currency and save bank and currency conversion fees. There are no hidden fees or expenses and we provide you with the best possible rates.
Why is the company registered in the US?
Arid is registered in Delaware in the United States since it allows us to provide our international customers a better service and online experience. It also allows us to make use of the best payment processing systems and save money for the customer and the car rental companies.
